A bright, modern transformation for family living and entertaining
Setting the Scene
When Matt and Emma first approached Excel Home Design, they had a clear vision: more space to live, relax, and come together as a family. Their home needed a transformation that was both functional and beautiful — something light-filled, modern, and made for entertaining.
They chose Excel not just for our award-winning reputation, but because they'd seen what we could do for others in their community. From the very first conversation with Russell, they felt supported, heard, and in safe hands.
Vision & Design Approach
This was a dual project, encompassing both a new sunroom and a fully custom kitchen. The brief: open-plan living with a central kitchen island, clever storage, and seamless integration of light — both natural and LED.
Matt and Emma wanted a space that felt fresh and modern, yet highly practical for everyday family life.
Together with the client, our design team developed a tailored solution. The kitchen was designed around made-to-measure cabinetry, a bespoke hob at the heart of the island, and smart storage throughout. The clients also requested a drinks larder, integrated LED lighting, and maximum clearance around the island — all delivered without compromise.

The quartz worktops added a premium touch, contrasting beautifully with large-format floor tiles and textured panel detailing. Every element was carefully thought through — including visualising the space using our AI walkthrough software before build, allowing Matt and Emma to see the finished kitchen before installation began.
"Effectively, for us, it was a start-to-finish product. It was those eight stages of designing, going through explaining, the technology that we've got in terms of videos and things like that. I'd never thought of that aspect of the service, but if you look at the video walkthrough compared to what we've got now, it is the same basically, and you can't fault that, can you?"
Craftsmanship in Action
From the first spade in the ground to the final light fitting, our skilled in-house team ensured every detail was delivered to the highest standard. The made-to-measure cabinetry, bespoke sink and taps, and carefully integrated lighting system all came together to create a space that feels effortless to use — and a joy to be in.
Even with a Christmas deadline looming, the team worked hard to deliver everything on time. Any change — from shelf height to island size — was no issue. As Emma shared, even additional touches like blind fitting or garage steps were sorted without fuss.
