A New Chapter for St George’s Church
On June 24th, St George’s Church in Tonyrefail welcomed people back through its doors in a way it hasn’t for many years.
This time, it was for the official launch of Excel Home Design’s new headquarters and showroom, with representatives from organisations including the Federation of Master Builders, CIOB, Local Building Control, alongside trade partners, suppliers and local stakeholders, all in attendance.
The afternoon began with the Llantrisant Male Choir, filling the church with song once again and setting the tone for the event. Guests were then invited to explore the space, while a guest chef prepared food using the fully functioning kitchen displays, bringing a real sense of life to the showroom.
Throughout the event, visitors were able to experience the full environment, from the design displays to demonstrations of the VR suite, giving a clear insight into how projects can now be visualised before a single brick is laid.
It was an opening that brought the space to life, marking an exciting milestone for both the building and the business behind it.
Designs for Living, brought to life
At the heart of the new showroom is a simple idea - homes should not just look good. They should work beautifully for the people who live in them.
Excel Home Design has long been built around this principle, designing spaces that reflect how people want to live, not just what they want to build.
The new showroom brings that thinking into a physical space. A place where ideas can be explored, shaped and properly understood before a project begins.
Respecting the past, building for the future
The choice of St George’s Church was never just about location. It was about creating something meaningful.
The building has been carefully restored with a clear sense of respect for its history. Original windows have been retained, architectural features preserved, and the character of the church allowed to remain at the forefront.
At the same time, it has been thoughtfully reimagined into a modern design environment. One that feels open, inspiring and relevant to how people live today.
A different kind of showroom experience
Inside, the space moves far beyond traditional displays. Fully functioning kitchen, bathroom and sunroom installations allow visitors to experience different design approaches first-hand. From modern cottage style kitchens and bespoke islands, to compact cooking layouts and a range of window and rooflight options.
There is also a dedicated consultation area, supported by a full VR suite. As part of a scheduled appointment, clients are able to step into their future space, understand how it will feel, and make confident decisions before building work begins.
It’s a more considered, more complete way to approach home design.
A vision realised
For Director Russell Everett, the opening marked the culmination of a plan that has been developed over a number of years.
One that has been carried forward with care, focus and consistency, even through challenging periods for the industry, while continuing to deliver for clients.
